PSYDEH’s Newest Film as Empowerment Tool
Continuing its years-long tradition of using the camera to reflect “truth”, promote autonomy and inspire new thinking on how we deploy rights-based strategies to develop self-reliant communities from the bottom-up, PSYDEH has released the newest installment of film as empowerment tool (spanish with english subtitles).
The film, entitled “Del Otro Lado”, celebrates 2017 work funded by the PROEQUIDAD program of the federal government agency INMUJERES, with focus on four achieved objectives, some of which are unprecedented for PSYDEH and the Region:
- CITIZEN EDUCATION (strengthen political participation of 100 indigenous women)
- UNPRECEDENTED FOUR MUNICIPALITY FORUMS (link women leaders with male government delegates)
- UNPRECEDENTED PUBLIC RADIO CAMPAIGN (combatting political violence against women)
- REGIONAL FORUM (unite 200+ indigenous women at the fourth edition of a series of Regional Forums PSYDEH and women partners have produced since 2014).
The film is produced by professional photographer Diogo Heber with support from our team based in Mexico City and the Region. It will be one of two trailers projected before our special screening experience scheduled for La Cineteca Nacional de Mexico on January 27, 2018.
