Katie, an English Teaching Assistant at the Intercultural University of Hidalgo, will serve as PSYDEH’s coordinator of special projects.

Integrating Katie into public relations and fundraising initiatives in the short term help PSYDEH to build new regional and national collaborations and raise funds through our recently launched second global crowdfunding “Fruits of Change” campaign. In the medium term, informed by her initial work, Katie will expand her portfolio to include organization-strengthening projects as well as fieldwork.

Katie is a recent graduate of the College of William & Mary, where she studied Economics and Hispanic Studies and wrote her senior thesis on successful creative development projects in Latin America. She is passionate about combining hard data and cultural studies to produce sustainable impact, in both urban and rural settings. She says:

I am excited to join PSYDEH because I love this region and the people who live here. And PSYDEH embraces the cultural richness of the communities in which they work, building off the natural and human resources that already exist here. It’s amazing to get to work with a team that is so committed to creating innovative, sustainable impact from the bottom-up.
